How We Got Started
My first cruise was in 1978, and it was to the Bahamas on the SS Emerald Seas. It was NOT a good experience. The ship had engine problems and only used the propeller on the starboard side so we were always listing to the right. Our cabin was small. I've been in phone booths that were bigger than the bathroom (head - for you nautical types). One evening I took my beautiful wife, who was wearing a white gown, to the fantail for a romantic moment. We stood there for a few minutes watching the ship's wake when we noticed something falling. It was soot from the ship's stacks. Nice!
We tried cruising again in 1994, and this time we took our two young daughters. My wife and I really enjoyed it, and our daughters, who didn't want to go in the first place, loved it. From then on, any family vacation discussion included where we were going on our next cruise. That's how we got hooked on cruising, and we would love to put our experience to work for you.
